Lead Pastor
Nashville Christian Church

Position Description:
The Lead Pastor operates as the visionary leader of Nashville Christian Church. The Lead Pastor serves as the primary communicator and spiritual shepherd to our congregation, and with the elders, guides the church. The Lead Pastor will provide overall leadership to the church and the staff team, ensuring there are healthy systems of evangelism, discipleship, community outreach, compassion, leadership development and pastoral care in place for the congregation.

  8. Ability to plan, organize and follow through
Position Functions:
  1. Lead and oversee the worship team
  2. Teach or lead supplemental growth opportunities as deemed appropriate
  3. Develop and carry out a ministry plan, aligned with the established vision, to provide spiritual formation and development of the church body as well as missional outreach to the Nashville community
  4. Guide the elder team in spiritual growth
  5. Work hand in hand with the elder team in casting and implementing vision
  6. Lead, manage, disciple and mentor the ministerial and office staff
  7. Provide oversight to pastoral care, including hospital calls, weddings, counseling and funerals
  8. Serve as an active liaison of Nashville Christian Church in the Nashville community
  9. Other duties as assigned
Preferred Requirements:
  1. Primary gifts in preaching, pastoral ministry and care, and leadership
  2. Ministerial experience in a growing church
  3. Ordained in the Independent Christian Church
  4. Bachelor’s degree or higher in biblical studies from a Christian College or Seminary associated with the Independent Christian Churches of the Stone-Campbell Movement
  5. Experience in leading or serving in a multi-staff church environment
  6. Experience in leading or serving in a church that has shown sustained growth
  7. Demonstration of the ability to cast vision and strategy that leads to sustained growth
